Marvin Franklin spent more than two decades of his life working as a night-shift track inspector for the MTA. This may not seem like a dream job to most, but the NYC subway and its commuters, street kids, and panhandlers served as muse for his sensitive, vividly observed sketches, oil paintings, and watercolors. Marvin's tragic on-the-job death last April brought to light issues of MTA safety, along with a stockpile of work never before exhibited by this talented outsider.
