Shonky's only been releasing records since 2005, but his sleeper hit on Sub Static, "Solar," immediately won fans with its hypnotic waves of bleepy electronics that modulated like a synthesizer underwater. Tonight, the Parisian (now based in Berlin, of course) makes his stateside debut at the Bunker. As the "minimal" backlash continues to gain momentum, Shonky holds his ground with productions formed from carefully curated loops and effects, released on labels like Freak 'n Chic and Mobilee.
