Long-running lecture series Nerd Nite upgrades its digs from a cramped East Village bar to new DUMBO hot spot Galapagos, complete with a 1,200-square-foot moat that snakes around numerous curved couches. In addition to providing seats — a first for this event — Nerd Nite's new venue is equipped with a large stage that's well suited for PowerPoint presentations. At this week's geek gathering, historian/rocker Sarah Brockett (she plays bass for Overlord) discusses the evolution of leisure in the US and pharmaceutical researcher Kira Signer addresses the effects of anti-depressants and other brain-altering drugs. Last Comic Standing participant Dan Nainan closes the show as the first comedian to perform at Nerd Nite.
