This installment of Pulsewave, a monthly event founded by chiptune collective 8bitpeoples, showcases Gotham's most prominent Game Boy fiddlers. To capture the Halloween spirit, the acts in this lineup play only covers, crafting low-tech tributes to new wave, indie, and punk bands. Anamanaguchi, whose dancey, blippy thrash keeps a firm grip on melody, does Weezer, while Glomag creates a video-game version of Joy Division. Local heroes Bit Shifter and Nullsleep normally throw down dance-floor-friendly NES breakbeats, but tonight they try their hands at the Misfits and Depeche Mode, respectively. Come for the hacked consoles and visuals by No Carrier and VBlank, stay for the costume contest and hardware raffle.
