BAM says…

In Beckett's Endgame, the past is contained in garbage cans, the future is crippled, and the present is blind — but dark humor still reigns. In one scene, Hamm (John Tutrurro), a long-estranged king, bids Clov (Max Casella), his caretaker, to bring him his toy dog. Clov tries to tell him that it only has three legs, but Hamm insists that it must stand so he can pet it. Instead of arguing, Clov contorts his own body to hold the dog while Hamm pets it, oblivious to Clov's efforts. Turturro and Casella are like a drugged-up Abbott and Costello, enacting existentialist vaudeville with deadpan glee.
