Along with producers like Ghislain Poirier, Montreal-based remixers Megasoid are helping to bring "lazer bass" to the masses. Comprised of Ninja Tune artist Sixtoo and Wolf Parade's Hadji Bakara, these futuristic hip-hop prodigies — already infamous for their expanding Turbo Crunk and Bridge Burner party empire back home — crank out heavy slappers that beckon to fluorescent-clad new schoolers as well as backpacking heavyweights. Tonight, for the third installment of the Low End Theory night at the Knitting Factory, Megasoid's live electronic fire shows New York what our neighbors to the north are packing.
