Young gun (and award-winning choreographer) Austin McCormick's Judgment of Paris uniquely fuses 17th-century Baroque dance technique (ballet's precursor) with contemporary choreography and theatre. Poking spicy fun at taboo sexuality, this lavish production revolves around the mythical beauty of Helen of Troy, who's transported to a modern Parisian brothel. The provocative tale is sensually danced in gorgeous costumes to a hybrid score of classical, pop, can-can, and cabaret, and staged in an industrial warehouse that doubles as an open dressing room.
