Synth-punk jokesters Trans Am have spent well over a decade bringing their hometown of Washington, DC, a little closer to Cologne, Germany, pounding out motorik rhythms for kids who grew up on Fugazi. The band's most recent album, Sex Change, blends brooding electro-rock and slap-happy funk, shifting seamlessly from the dance floor to outer space within a single track. Tonight's show also features the bacchanalian excesses of sludgy Brooklyn stoners Knyfe Hyts, who conjure up a sea of noise while bedecked in velvet robes and gleaming white togas. With both early and late sets, having to get up on Wednesday morning is not a viable excuse for missing the show.
