As half of anti-folk icons the Moldy Peaches, Kimya Dawson has spent her recording career playing indie rock with an irreverent, childlike edge. When the Peaches took a break in 2004, Dawson kept relatively quiet, playing only small clubs near her home in the Northwest — but with the band blowing up on the ubiquitous Juno soundtrack, she's back on the radar with a much-anticipated tour. Her lyrics are quick and complex, but the music is sweet and accessible, mixing simple guitar strums and cheerfully anti-authoritarian sentiments into bubblegum protest songs. This is no sit-in, though — just a night of gentle, homespun melodies.
