Not far from the touristy San Gennaro Festival is Ciao Italy, a celebration of Williamsburg's Italian community. Ciao is not for foodies, but still has plenty to offer, such as Laura Caparrotti's one-hour crash course in Italian, L'Italiano Si Impara Cosi. Attendees can also discover the history behind the knotty Neapolitan Tammurriata dance, and even learn the moves from Anabella Lenzu, the festival's co-founder. Lenzu's DanceDrama group performs The Garden, a new piece rooted in the Italian folk tradition, as well as Entroterra (Interior), which traces a woman's life in ancient and modern steps. Ciao Italy's other co-founder, Todd Carroll, presents an exhibit/lecture on southern Italy's many folk-dance festivals.
