Tzadik's resident theremin adventurer, Pamelia Kurstin, hits Issue Project Room tonight alongside performance artist/vocal instigator Shelley Hirsch and rock-ventriloquist Carla Rhodes. Adding a bit of international intrigue to the evening, Norwegian avant-garde guitarist Stian Westrerhus joins them. A recent addition to the Jaga Jazzist roster, Westrerhus has also collaborated with a host of the Scandinavian jazz and avant-garde elite, pounding the pavement with the likes of Maja Ratke and Arve Hendrickson. His first solo album, out on a Rune Grammophon imprint this spring, comes in the wake of a BBC Jazz Award for Innovation. Suffice it to say, there will be noise.
