Long before she played the alluring, masochistic lead in Michael Haneke's The Piano Teacher, Isabelle Huppert tapped into her inner kink in Sauve qui peut (la vie) as a young prostitute who gets entangled in a love triangle with a television producer and his wife. In his return to film after working with video for a decade, Godard explores the merging of capitalism, sex, and art. Legendary screenwriter Jean-Claude Carriere (Belle de jour, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie) adds a surrealist touch that contrasts nicely with Godard's hyper-realism.
