More evil than cutting off a metalhead's beard on his birthday, Pitchfork's Show No Mercy showcase at Public Assembly is quickly establishing itself as the end-all, be-all in intimate blow-outs. In this month's edition, epic Portland, Maine-bred adventurers Ocean spar with doom growlers Salome. Rock-heavy openers Riff Cannon add a punked-up, Sabbath-y edge to the evening, and local boys Batillus round things out with melodic guitar lines and sparse, haunting doom.
