Acclaimed funky-folk cellist (and Kentucky boy) Ben Sollee is back in the city this weekend, performing the NY Loves Mountains benefit at the Bell House. The fest is meant to draw attention and activism to the supremely destructive mountaintop-removal mining in Appalachia, and natural-gas drilling in the Catskills, and presents several events around NYC this weekend. But our money's on tonight's closing party with Sollee, who cut his teeth with Béla Fleck, Abigail Washburn, and the Sparrow Quartet before going solo. The Demolition String Band, authors Silas House and Jeff Biggers, and more special guests also join the environmental fray.
