Coney Island says…

This year, the Village Voice's Siren Fest evokes the gods of indie past, present, and future, with a strong lineup headlined by '90s alternative heroes Built to Spill. Other highlights include Frank Black's new band Grand Duchy, Scottish folk rockers Frightened Rabbit, and atmospheric shoegazers A Place to Bury Strangers. Arrive early to catch local faves Bear Hands (we knew it wouldn't be long, guys) and electro-pop punks Micachu & the Shapes. Also be sure to pack the sunblock and a bathing suit; it gets scorching out on the pavement, but you can always dip into the Atlantic for a quick cool-down. (Really, we were just there last week and it wasn't gross at all.)
