Tonight's show is the Blackened Music Series' inaugural event, set to bring seriously heavy music to the Brooklyn metal masses. The series kicks off with a grindcore summit, featuring three leading acts from the past three decades. Local legends Brutal Truth unleash politically charged anthems that shift from death-metal tempos to grindcore freakouts, while Pig Destroyer offer up a sound that combines extreme noise with memorable riffage. But the night's highlight is a rare set — their first in New York — by grindcore godfathers Repulsion. The band will play its sole, seminal full-length, Horrified, in its entirety, making for about 29 minutes of downtuned sonic mayhem.
