BAM says…

We fell head-over-heels for Janelle Monáe after watching the extended music video/mini-movie for her single "Many Moons." The buddy of Big Boi (she's guested on OutKast tracks) and recent GRAMMY nom is a funky sparkplug of a singer who updates old-school soul/R&B in ways that make us think "female Andre 3000." Lauded local wordsmith Saul Williams also takes the stage — likely as his 2008 album alter ego, the half-alien, half-poet Niggy Tardust — with his whirlwind lyrics, aggressive vocals, and synths. And Dallas Austin, a seasoned hip-hop and R&B producer (TLC, Blu Cantrell, and MJ himself) could also have some worthwhile tricks up his sleeve.
