Few things say "summer in the city" like a chill session on a stoop with good friends and good music. That's part of the inspiration behind F.O.K.U.S.' annual Stoop event, a free concert with free food and free drinks. F.O.K.U.S. is a nonprofit working to bring the community together through the power of the arts, and it's got a history of jumping on breaking acts early — it got both John Legend and Janelle Monae before they blew up. This year, live remix band Keys 'N Krates headline, with support from up-and-coming hip-hopper the Kid Daytona, Belikos, and jazz artist Caleb Curtis. Watch out especially for the headliners — their performance at the BK Hip-Hop Festival drew an overwhelmingly positive reaction from a crowd of wary strangers.
