The grito is both a Mexican mating call and a battle cry — the most famous being a heartfelt bellow of "Viva Mexico!" Tonight, NachosNY presents this jubilant celebration for Mexico's Independence Day, offering free FoodShouldTasteGood chips and Lobo Park Slope salsa, cheap Tecate and Modelo, music by Spicy Times' Nora and Jinners, and a grito contest in which applause is boss. If throaty mating calls aren't your forte, there's a raffle for other spoils like gift certificates and a cooler from Tecate.
