Veteran bassist Trevor Dunn cut his teeth playing in numerous bands that span the musical spectrum, from the avant-garde metal-heads of Mr. Bunge and Fantomas to experimental guru John Zorn's Masada. He even spent time with humorous punks the Melvins. Tonight, he breaks out on his own as a band leader with the release of White with Foam. His jazz-trained band support him in this surprisingly rock album that's tempered with distortion and menacingly experimental notes. Opener Jim Black's instrumental Alas No Axis blend jazz riffs with modern beats.
