The Brooklyn Botanic Garden does it again, taking horticulture where it hasn't quite been before. On the mainstage, Grammy-nominated Boukman Eksperyans fly in from Port-au-Prince to share its fusion of traditional Haitian vodou ceremonial, Mandingo Ambassadors give us masterful Guinean grooves; and Red Baraat! blend Bollywood with brass beats. Of course, as the chile pepper is the honored guest, celebrate all things spicy at the Chile Chocolate Cabana where local chocolatiers offers up some of their spicier fare. Then get tips from mixologist Kara Newman on how to spice up your libations, and Corwin Kave of Fatty Crab gives demos on spicy dishes. And to add a little Fellini to this fiesta, fire-eaters and fire-jugglers will entertain you, and there will be an appearance by the legendary ghost-pepper. It's getting hot out here.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden says…

One of the globe’s most ubiquitous foods will once again inspire Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s (BBG) Chile Pepper Fiesta when chile-loving cultures around the world will converge at BBG with musical performances and culinary activities for the whole family. This year’s Chile Pepper Fiesta features contributions from Haiti, India, West Africa, Mexico, Algeria, Malaysia, and more. BBG’s recently opened Herb Garden will be bright with chile peppers from around the globe—including the bhut jolokia from India, the spiciest pepper in the world!
