Ra Ra Riot exploded in 2008, playing CMJ Music Marathon, South by Southwest, and nearly every other essential festival before releasing their first album, The Rhumb Line (2008). Their gentle sound has unexpected moments of drama and poignancy, as vocals, bass, guitar, and drums encounter the tender strings of the cello and violin. Their shows are exuberant events marked by bittersweet moments that have become their penchant.
Opening for Ra Ra Riot is The Antlers, whose "grandiose yet intimate indie rock" (Pitchfork) has put their 2009 release Hospice on several album-of-the-year lists.
