“Ever since Sunday Best announced their schedule months ago, this has been the date everyone has been waiting for. Quite simply, it's a historic chance to see Optimo, those grizzled Glaswegians JD Twitch and JG Wilkes, make a rare joint appearance in the US. It's a turning point for the duo, actually — since ending their legendary weekly club night after 13 years, Twitch and Wilkes are now free to roam both geographically and creatively. Judging by the five-hour recording of their monstrous final set (making the rounds online as "Optimogeddon," naturally), their tag team with Sunday Best residents Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin should be an awesomely bumpy ride. For almost thirteen years, at a place called the Sub Club in Glasgow, our special guests ran and played one of the funnest, most loved parties in the world. JG Wilkes and JD Twitch, the gents behind Optimo rarely toured together, especially on a Sunday. With the party's end in April, the duo have been able to do things that they hadn't been able to do before - like play our own, relatively new Sunday institution, something we'd been asking for since the first year Sunday Best started. -Sunday Best
