The Boredoms are said to be partly responsible for awakening US listeners to the Japanese music scene. On July 7th, 2007, at 7:07pm, the band held a momentous event with 77 drummers — as the title suggests. Filmmaker Jun Kawaguchi, who had spent a decade documenting the band, was there to film it, as were web-TV sites like VBS TV, Viva-Radio, and a gaggle of unknown YouTube cameramen. Kawaguchi then combined his footage with some he hunted down on YouTube to create 77 Boa Drum, which is released in the US on DVD on September 7 and comes with a series of photo postcards not available in the Japanese edition. Come see this rare theatrical presentation of the event.

On July 7th, 2007 at 7:07 PM, Japanese group, orchestrated a performance by 77 drummers at the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park in Brooklyn, NY. Nearly three years later, the experience is finally making its way to DVD. 77 Boa Drum is the official live performance documentary of the event, complete with behind the scenes rehearsal footage, interviews, and of course, lots of footage of the actual performance.
