“Proving a successful addition to last year's festival, Northside reprises its role as a cultural arbiter for the cinematically curious. Enlisting the help of organizations like BAM, NewFest, indieWIRE, and IFP, this year's program is an eclectic mix of shorts and features, both fiction and documentary. Some cream among the crop are Tabloid, Errol Morris' comical documentary about the misadventures of former beauty queen Joyce McKinney; Nothing Yet, a comedy about a three-piece garage-pop band called Frat Dad; and PressPausePlay, an ambitious exploration into the future of creative expression in the digital age. As for shorts, Rooftop Films and Animation Block Party have curated programs that should keep short attention spanners quenched.”
