“One of the more tweet-worthy events of this year's Social Media Week, Common Pitch NY is like that addictive reality TV show Shark Tank, where would-be inventors try to persuade snarky investors to support their projects; except tonight, the companies compete against each other and you get to witness the bloodshed first hand. Riffing on the theme of collaborative consumption, eight social media entrepreneurs are slated to present their new business concepts to a panel of judges that includes designer Stefan Sagmeister, Foodspotting co-founder Soraya Darabi, Nokia's Craig Hepburn, and founder/CEO of the Collaborative Fund, Craig Shapiro. In addition to the spirited and inspiring pitchfest, the event, hosted by creative guru Alex Bogusky and SMW's Toby Daniels, doubles as a party with DJ Autobot of Flosstradamus schooling the soundsystem.
