3rd Ward says…

You see other people doing it and you know you want to. Knitting can be a meditative and relaxing way to express your creativity. You can start a project in the very first session and feel like a pro as your skills improve each week. On the first day, you'll learn how to hold the yarn and needles, long tail cast on, knit, purl and bind off. Purls are just knit stitches in reverse but zillions of knit designs have been done with just these two stitches. After reviewing the previous lesson, you'll learn a new cast on method and explore different combinations of knit and purl stitches including stockinette, ribbing, and other stitch patterns.

In the third and fourth class you'll fine tune your basic skills and add discover new ones. Learn to change colors, add on yarn, some of the best ways to weave in loose ends, how to prevent and fix mistakes, and a little taste of seaming. Knitting and purling give us flat rectangles, so if we want some shape for things like garments we need to know how to decrease and increase. Students will start a variety of projects over the duration of the course (a scarf, a cowl, a hat) and learn how mend damaged knit garnents.

This class runs for four sessions.
