Marbling silk

This single session workshop will teach you the simple and beautiful process of marbling silk. Learn to float colors on a special medium in a bath of water, then create a single print—a monotype of sorts—by laying the silk onto the bath. Learn to create intricate patterns by combing through the colors or dragging a single hair or object. Some artists even blow on the water to create rippled movement effects. This process requires no special skills and minimal space and can be easily replicated in your own home or studio. Each student will leave the workshop with several finished handkerchiefs or scarves, a supply list for replicating the process and the knowledge to do so safely.
