Bring clean water to the world

In 2007, we teamed up with charity: water, a nonprofit that brings safe, clean drinking water to at-risk communities around the world. To date, charity: water has constructed more than 1,200 wells in 14 countries, supporting 650,000 people. Between our Anniversary Series events and the generosity of our readers, we raised more than $17,000 — enough to build two wells in Ethiopia. And over the past two years, we helped charity: water to hit its $7 million goal, adding major water projects in India, Bangladesh, Haiti, and Honduras.

Jennifer Connelly in Clean Water Africa PSA

Imagine if New York City's taps went dry. What would you do? In this striking PSA, Jennifer Connelly walks to Central Park to get dirty water for her family, as millions of mothers in Africa have to do every day. Directed by Hotel Rwanda's Terry George, with cinematography by Ellen Kuras. Music by Rumor Mill. Edited by Michael Rothman @ Mudbutter.

Time Bomb

The London charity: water team took a trip to the Central African Republic to check on its wells, and came back with this dynamic video combining staggering statistics and footage. Beck was kind enough to lend the music from his single "Time Bomb" to create a poignant soundtrack to this three-minute piece, shot and edited by Simon Willows.
