Oct 30, 2007 – Nov 17, 2007
Tuesdays–Saturdays (6pm)
Directions: Just north of "UIC-Halsted" stop on CTA Blue Line
Note: This exhibition runs through Sat Nov 17 (Tue-Fri: 10am-6pm / Sat: 12-6pm).
Tonight, artist Melanie Schiff and Gallery 400 director Lorelei Stewart come together to talk about their co-curated exhibition I Am Eyebeam, which includes work from Sara VanDerBeek, Matt Keegan, Craig Doty, and UIC alum Shane Huffman. The show explores the state of photography in our current social climate, addressing "questions of spectatorship and self-conception." VanDerBeek's piece Medusa references Greek antiquity's geometric simplicity, while Doty's Untitled depicts a young girl in mid-motion, clad in a Mickey Mouse t-shirt and spandex leggings. Gather round to hear Schiff and Stewart discuss all 12 featured photographers.
