For three years, Writers on the Record has combined programming for the stage (live interviews), radio (live broadcasts), and print media (a Chicago magazine column) to offer literature fans a trifecta of entertainment. Victoria Lautman, magazine columnist and Chicago Public Radio vet, hosts the group's events, asking all the right questions to gain insight into the featured author's world. Tonight's guest is University of Iowa Writers' Workshop grad Ann Packer, who wrote the bestseller The Dive from Clausen's Pier, about a Wisconsin woman's soul-searching journey to Manhattan. Those who can't make it downtown need not fret: the event is simulcast on 98.7 WFMT.
