If any company can be called the indie darling of the dance world, it's Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. Barely a decade old, ASFB's repertoire includes the work of nearly every notable contemporary choreographer, interpreted by a small but powerful ensemble of young, daring performers. The troupe's Chicago debut includes Pointeoff by Finnish innovator Jorma Elo, whose pieces have the spare, logical layout of Japanese architecture filligreed with dense, engaging detail. Also on the program is the seldom-seen Sweet Fields: set to early Shaker hymns and uncharacteristically simple, it offers a rare look at Twyla Tharp's softer side.
