British fashion-magazine editor and style icon Isabella Blow was a true original — a modern-day Marchesa Casati who dared to wear the world's most outrageous haute-couture creations, from avant-garde ensembles by Alexander McQueen (whom she discovered) to the fanciful millinery of Philip Treacy (who claimed her as his muse). In the wake of Blow's suicide in May of this year, artist and best-selling author Audrey Niffenegger (The Time Traveler's Wife) conceived of this exhibition as a collection of work that Blow would have liked. Her occasionally macabre but always elegant Gorey-esque paintings, drawings, and prints are a fitting tribute.
