As part of the citywide Festival of Maps, kicking off at the Field Museum on November 2, curator Tricia Van Eck has organized an exhibition all about the subject, featuring artists' books, photography, drawings, video, and sound. Industry of the Ordinary, Jason Lazarus, Deb Sokolow, and Frances Whitehead are among the 33 Chicago artists with works on display alongside pieces from the MCA's permanent collection. Don't miss opening day, when, from 4 to 5pm, all 33 locals line up to recreate John Baldessari's 1974 piece Framed Heights. A similarly themed issue of the local magazine Whitewalls is being published concurrently with the exhibition.
