With outposts in Lincoln Park and Ravenswood, the Old Town School of Folk Music hasn't been based in Old Town for years. For that matter, calling it a school of folk music is like calling the Chicago Bears a punt-return football team. With that business out of the way, congratulations are in order as the venerable music academy celebrates its 50th anniversary. The school is marking the occasion in style, throwing wide its doors with a free, daylong open house featuring a wide range of music and dance classes, improv-theatre workshops, cabaret performances, and the ever-popular Wiggleworms for the small fries. All are invited to stop by, learn a few new chords at a group lesson, and take in a show.
