Prodigiously bearded James Magas has been a mainstay of the city's no-wave/weirdo-wave/prog-skronk scene for years, but it's his propulsive, eminently robo-danceable output as Magas that's made him the pied piper of nihilistic dance-bunnies everywhere. The former Weekend Records proprietor's synth-driven sound references everything from the spazzy, gold-lamé spirit of Les Georges Leningrad and Berlin industrial geniuses Malaria! to Adult.'s electro-goth, Suicide's Ghost Rider, and even sweet '70s disco like Fancy's Lady on Ice. (Okay, not the last one, but that would be awesome. Magas, take note!) Tonight, the two-left-footed man performs demented jams from his criminally overlooked May I Meet My Accuser.
