Twenty-one years after the release of the last Clash album, director Julien Temple's Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten examines the life and times of the band's frontman — an iconic rocker whose death in 2003 was a day that will live in rock 'n roll infamy. Temple presents his friend Strummer as a global citizen and a tangible human being, not just as an influential punk rocker; in addition to plenty of rock riffage and stunning insight, the documentary also features interviews with musicians like the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis and U2 lead singer Bono, alongside actors including John Cusack and Johnny Depp.
