It seems everyone - from Eric Schlosser's Fast Food Nation to Michael Pollan's The Carnivore's Dilemma- is starting to wonder just where the food we eat comes from and how it effects our health, our economy and our planet. In the documentary King Corn, filmmaker Aaron Woolf follows a pair of college buddies who grow an acre of the Thanksgiving mainstay and watch as their golden harvest makes its toxic way up the food chain into every aspect of our diets. Woolf's fascinating investigation of the lucrative cash crop traces how heavy government subsidies and the demand for every-cheaper food has encouraged the overproduction of corn and contributed to the growing obesity epidemic, bankrupted family farms and polluted, herbicide-ladened lands.
