A less-than-objective love letter to the former president, Jimmy Carter: Man From Plains chronicles the octogenarian's recent book tour for Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid — a controversial critique of Israel's West Bank occupation. While the film may not directly engage our 39th president's prescriptions for peace, it nonetheless shines with a folksy, panegyric quality, and provides an intimate, behind-the-scenes portrait of the Camp David Accords mediator and Noble Peace Prize winner's post-presidency life. Swooning over Carter's humble, down-to-earth lifestyle, the film is a moving dedication to a man who has devoted his life to brokering lasting peace in the Middle East.
