Assessing dance as a conduit for desire, Asimina Chremos digs into one of ballet's most transcendent moments: Dame Margot Fonteyn's career renaissance of the 1960s, when a dancer in her mid-forties became a global star and gave some of the finest performances of all time. Chremos has the facility and exactitude of a ballerina, but her semi-improvised work feeds classical forms into algorithms that spit out crystalline, organic shapes, demonstrated by a bewitching, benevolent cyborg. Guitarist Jeff Parker, dancer Jonathan Meyer and others help fill the space, and Chris Wooten helms the mood through lighting and technical design.
