Film Edward Scissorhands (1990)

You've got to hand it to the guy who brought both Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and Beetle Juice to the big screen — even after missteps like Planet of the Apes, Tim Burton always bounces back with some fantastical story involving pale bodies and copious makeup. Edward Scissorhands is the best of the lot, the story of a boy with scissors for hands who transforms the hearts (and bushes) of a cookie-cutter American suburb. It's one of Burton's most personal films, balancing loneliness and alienation with quirky, dark humor.
