From ancient Egyptian reliefs of feasts to ancient Greek bacchanalian drinking vessels and Dutch and Flemish genre paintings of incredibly detailed spreads (right down to ants on the table and dew beading on bunches of luscious grapes), food and wine have long been a vital theme in art. Put your holiday hangover (and/or food coma) in perspective with this tour, led by Jeff Nigro, of party-centric pieces from the AIC's collection. And if all of this culinary-inspired art makes you hungry, wrap up your visual indulgences with a trip to the museum's excellent lower-level Garden Restaurant — the scallops with caramelized cocoa and cauliflower sauce are a must.
