Umphrey's McGee have been an industry standard in the jam-band scene for nearly a decade, and they're doing a three-night stint at Aragon, where no two performances will be the same, typical jammy stuff. Jam bands are all about reinvention, after all, and Umphrey's McGee skillfully improvise sets onstage, digressing from a heavy guitar lick into groovy bass lines, with tunes rising and falling depending on how the band feeds off the audience. Since Umphrey's McGee are from the Windy City and continue to have a solid fan base here, the grooves should last plenty long.
