Tucked into a residential block just north of Wicker Park, Club Lucky is one of the city's great neighborhood dining-and-drinking joints. The building housed a hardware store, a speakeasy, and a Polish banquet hall before it was revived in the '90s by its current owners, who restored its wooden bar, tin ceilings, and leather booths to their original 1940s splendor. The generously portioned Italian-American plates are always the most comfy of comfort foods. Tonight's dinner guests have the choice of à la carte specialties (we love the frezelle of marinated eggplant and loads of fontinella), or the chef's specials. Late-night diners enjoy a bottle of champagne per couple and live music by jazz band Jin & Tonic (reservations required).
