Voted one of the "best-looking restaurants in America," Tizi Melloul provides a striking, exotic backdrop for New Year's revelry. The restaurant's opulent Suhail-designed interiors are half the fun of dinner — you can choose to either recline on a pouf in the communal Crescent Room or sit Western-style in the spectacular, tapestry-lined main dining room. This evening's luxurious, Mediterranean prix-fixe menu by chefs Jason Heiman and James Strong includes options like sweetbread napoleons with truffled celery-root puree, lamb shanks with a vol au vent of black eyed peas (thought to be a good-luck food at the start of a new year), and blood-orange brûlée with fig purée.
