Thirty years before Michael Moore's critical diagnosis of the American healthcare system, The Chicago Maternity Center Story examined how the interests of corporations and those of patients often have little to do with one another. Director Jerry Blumenthal doesn't shy away from the political implications of one woman's struggle to safely give birth to her first child at home.
