Taking its title from the 1968 Rolling Stones song, Sympathy for the Devil is grouped into geographical vignettes: New York, West Coast/Los Angeles, Midwest, United Kingdom, Europe, and "The World" (which includes artists from Japan, Thailand, and Mexico). The show's exceptional range includes photographer Richard Kern's '80s New York Girls series, featuring a young Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth; collage by the Detroit-based Destroy All Monsters collective; and hazy, sun-dappled photographs by local artist Melanie Schiff.
