The difference between the fireworks shows on Fourth of July and New Year's is layers and layers of clothing and blankets. If you're willing to brave the cold for a mighty fine sky display, look no farther than Navy Pier, the epicenter of all things touristy and fireworks-worthy. There are many other places to see the show than from the launchpad, so seek out less-trafficked grounds. Grant Park and Olive Park are nearby; otherwise, there's the lakefront or a cushy seat at the Signature Lounge in the John Hancock Center.
