Constant chandeliers and displaced furniture bind Tiffany Calvert's paintings into a series entitled NOLA (New Orleans, Louisiana). Revisiting the tragic aftermath of Hurricane Katrina with images of ruined historical buildings and mansions, many of the New York-based artist's pieces hint at solitary, even secretive, journeys through the wreckage. Meanwhile, a perpetual battle is waged between Calvert's abstract figures, her representational strokes, and her cooling palette.
