Music: Rock/Pop Headache City w/ Telenovela

Loaded with old-school "whoa-oh-oh!" choruses, gnarly riffs, and vintage keyboard melodies aplenty, Headache City's 2006 self-titled debut was an exhilarating collection of surfy garage-pop confections, and one of the best local releases of the year. Despite fan protests, they've been operating sans synths for over a year now, and in that time their stripped-down sound has become darker, tighter, and even catchier, if that's possible. Tonight, Headache City (headed up by two-thirds of the sloppier, punkier CoCoComa) perform new material off the soon-to-be released Teenage Grease EP.
